Resumes:
Make sure your name, phone number and email address are accurate and the content is error free.
The experience should be listed in reverse chronological order and reflect the growth in your career.
It should include awards, acknowledgements, advancements, education and exclude references and personal information.
Make sure your achievements are reflected in dollars or percentages when appropriate. Some areas of specific interest are: increased revenues, reduced and contained expenses, new programs initiated, acquisitions, increased productivity, new product lines, and involvement in start-ups.
Explain how you used your traits to achieve success.
If you cannot get your information on one page, it is okay to use two, however, make sure you position the text so that all of the second page is also used, eliminating excessive “white space”.
 
Interviewing:
Be sure you know how you will be expected to be dressed, such as suit and tie or business casual. Some companies have relaxed dress codes on certain days.
Be punctual, but also make sure you are carrying the name and number to call in the event an unforeseen delay occurs.
Bring a copy of your resume.
Be prepared to address short and long-term goals.
Be prepared to discuss your qualifications as they relate to the position for which you are interviewing.
When answering a question, stay on track and do not ramble or give unnecessary information. Be accurate and concise.
Be prepared to discuss your reason for wanting to look for another position.
Have questions prepared for the interviewer that relate to the position and the company.
Complete additional research on the company, beyond what is provided, to show you have taken the initiative to find the information.
Ask what would be the expectations and time frames to complete.
Have the responsibilities explained and clarified.
Find out why the position needs to be filled and why they are not filling it from within.
Clarify the amount of travel involved.
Be sure to SEND A THANK YOU NOTE immediately following the interview. Emailing thank you notes is an accepted practice.
